Using Soft Contact Lenses

When contact lenses are categorized based on the materials which they are made from, then you can probably divide them into three categories : hard ,soft  and RGP contact lenses.


All of these contact lenses have their various advantages as well as disadvantages and the contact lenses a person uses depends on their own particular preferences and what they conditions they suffer from, if any.

Hard contact lenses are made from  polymethyl methacrylate, otherwise referred to as PMMA or Perspex/Plexiglas.  These hard contact lenses are often referred to as second generation contact lenses – first generation contact lenses were made from glass and which have now become virtually extinct. Hard contact lenses have the disadvantage of allowing no oxygen to permeate through to the cornea, thereby potentially causing a number of undesirable side effects which can affect the health of the eyes.
